WTD 3-4 Speed Freewheel Block For 50s Build

cipolinni

Old School Grand Master
Loking for a 3-4 speed freewheel block for my 50s lightweight build
Keeping it simple for this build,to see out the winter weather riding.
Ratios of about 13-24 / 14-24 /13-25 or similar
What have you kept in a drawer of your shed cupboard, used for TT back in the 50s-60s

Regina would be nice (british threads)

I have some 5-speed TT blocks,maybe a swap deal!!!!
13-17 ratios

Here's hoping to get my project on it's way

I have a 3 speed from the 50's that was my dads, I won't be home until the 2 Jan though. I'll dig it out and post a picture.

Hi
That would be great
I'll look forward to the photos and also the ratios!!!!!!
Thanks
Malc

Dug it out, but I'm not sure what it is! See pictures below, it seems to be 3 speed fixed???? It has a right hand thread though??

Hi Ian

Thanks for getting back to me with photos
Looking at the front it's a Cyclo 3-Speed
Are you sure it's a fixed.I need a freewheel to be honest
Iv'e counted the gears roughly,14-19 ratios?

Not sure if it's suitable for my project, although i'm quite interested.
I'm basically building a 50s lightweight.which has no decals, but has lovely Nervex Pro lugs.
Fixed set-up will not be suitable for the hilly welsh roads.especially 17-19 tooth with a single 42-46 chainring, too hard.

What sort of dosh would you want for it?

I'll go out to the shed in the morning, get some release oil on it and try it on a wheel to see if I can get it to freewheel.

I also have a Cyclo Benelux 3-4 speed rear deraillieur in good condition for its age.

I will let you know tomorrow how I get on.

Its good news Mr Cipolinni, had it soaked in release oil for 5 mins and it now freewheels!!!!!
It is 14-17-19 and I'm open to offers plus the postage costs.

Ian

Does it a nice movement sound (nice clicking)
To be honest iv'e no idea on price
The project is a low budget winter ride
Give me an idea what you would expect for it.
I can paypal you as a gift if we can have a deal

Yes nice clicking, then noticed the two small sprocket are now unscrewing.
Unscrewed and then realised what I thought was a single speed freewheel with a 21 sprocket is in fact another 3 speed with out the other 2 sprockets attached! I have attached all the sprockets from the shed some fit on the freewheels and some are fixed gear cogs. What about about £35 for the lot plus postage?

So there are 2 3-speed freewheels?
The 21 tooth sprocket is another 3-speed freewheel hub without the 2 smaller rings?
Therfor i could use the 21-speed with the other 2 smaller rings.
Hope this makes sense!!

It's a bit too much spend for my project to be honest
But i will offer you £20 posted for the lot
