8 speed rear shimano hub.

Thanks for pointing that out. I guess 130mm is ok then. I have a 90's steel frame that has 126mm spacing but Ive had an 8 speed wheel in it. I may have squeezed it in with out remembering.

130mm it is.

I've a couple of shimano rear hubs, nothing special, freehubs look narrow, I'll check if they fit an 8sp cassette and let you know.
Cheers

Just checked, both my shimano road hubs are 7sp freehubs, I've a mtb hub with 8sp freehub though, has disk mounts.

To make things clear, I have a decent road wheel built up onto a hub which is missing both its axle and its freehub.

Your mtb hub would solve my freehub issue but the axle would be too long and the cones may not fit.

If your hubs are cheap enough I could take a road one for the axle and a MTB one for the freehub.

Is it definately a shimano hub? Has it got the Allen bolt retainer for the freehub (or should it have?)
I need to check that this freehub would transplant to your hub shell.
