Hi, I'm looking for a road bike for a friend who seems to have caught the bike bug. Hes just over 6 foot so I'm guessing 56-58cm should be about right.
Budget would be about £300 for a complete bike in good nick although I'd said if a suitable frame and forks were offered I would help locate parts and build it up for him. Age not too important, anything in good condition considered.
Thanks in advance.

re road bike wanted

Hi
are you still looking for the bike? I have just listed a mid-1990s Ribble road bike with Campag components throughout on Reynolds 531c frame, 57cm frame.

your idea about price is similar to what I want for mine - £300 ono.

Let me know whether you are interested.

Hi NJ :) I have a Raleigh 531c in very good condition, 57cm if I remember (been a while since I measured her). I am a long legged 6ft'er and she was just right for me. (I like aero seatposts to be on the limit line or there abouts, not pushed down deep inside the seattube)

Sitting here waiting to be assembled with mainly "Campagnolo late 80's Athena Groupset" (all my bikes are solid Campagnolo). I can get it in your hands in about 7-10 days if you like the sound of it :)

In a position to build it many ways re: Campag type ie: Chorus / Athena / Triomphe-Victory / Super Record. (affordable SR headset would be an issue as rocking horses only poop every so often these days). Something for you to ponder my friend. Post here OR PM. Yours Laz.

PS: built this 1 last year for a chap off here

Edit: The frame was identified as a Raleigh type 8802 531c Luxe on this thread here : http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... gh&start=0. She can of course be re-vamped to suit your friends tastes, as was the Zeus. My best to you, yours Laz.

Thanks for everyone's offers, will be talking to my mate at the weekend who the bike will be for to discuss options. Seems like lots to choose from and will get back to everyone asap when we figure out whats going to work best.
Cheers,
Nick
