Quick question for Craig - what sort of ratios do you use - 7 speed on the back something like 12 - 22 and a 54 up front? (have 53 campag on the Pantani Bianchi and US Postal and they both top out too soon) also, how do you figure out which front fork is on there (the frame is only marked "carbon 7" (plus the usual TVT stamps) and the fork is chrome/polished, with a definate shoulder at the top that then turns into a fat fork rather than smooth curve/thin look of a TVT 89/92

Cheers, Dan.

***Edit - looks like Vitus front forks looking at pics on google***

The original TVT frames with the alloy rear brake bridge were supplied with a Vitus fork, Dan - the later ones (Which Delgado rode in '8:cool: had their own unicrown TVT carbon fork as well as the integrated carbon rear brake bridge.

Gear wise, I have a 53/39 C Record chainset and a 12-25 9 speed cassette on the rear. For the Alpes etc I have to use a Campag Racing T (such a dreadful name..) triple chainset with 52/42/30t rings, as I simply can't climb like I used to when I was a kid! With the triple set up, I use Campag Record 9 speed down tube gear levers and Racing T front and rear mechs.

Re:

Yep, looks like I`ll go for a 53/39 and 12/25 - assuming I can get them - have to turn over a few rocks...

Definatly a Vitus fork, so all good there.

Rims - Should be Ambrosio Metamorphasis but looks like they are only available as tubular - now I love riding on tubs but a flat with one is both expensive and a phonecall home - maybe a similar clincher????

Re:

DON'T put anything else on this bike, Dan or it will look NOTHING like
the bike you're trying to recreate!!

Here's the rims you want and the tubs AND the repair gear - EASY PEASY and the tubs aren't a fortune either!!

Job's a good 'un AND you'll look like Greg or Bernard and not some wannabe with ugly wired on rims and odd looking tyres!!

Re:

You are of course totally correct.

Had been eying up those rims on ebay - will be mine in a few days...

That repair/inflate - total genius - had no idea it existed! Have been riding around with a spare tub in the back pocket and a hope and dream of getting one on/off in a hurry...

Don`t judge me but I bagged a pair of period Look Carbon shoes for my size 11`s - not strictly greg but they look awesome...

Sorry to be so late to this, was shifting boxes of books on Sunday and flicked through an old Winning annual and great shot {but bottom of shot cropped}of Hampsten looking v skinny crossing the line in the time trial in the Tour de Suisse he won on an Hinault labeled TVT

Re:

Dan you can also looking for a Eclipse Carbon 7 in the US like this

The TVT used by Team LaVie Claire was a 1st Gen TVT Carbon 7 presented in 1983.
Within US they sold it under Eclipse label ... sometimes you can find one ...

But more problem you will get to find a 1st Gen Corsa Record groupset - this was the version wiht the graved Shield Logo on crank and rear mech and a front mech which has been riveted in parallel ... I looked for them many many years
