Wanted: Single speed flat bar workhorse

A friend's bike was pinched while he was at the pub so I'm helping him find a replacement.

He's after a single speed (freewheel) workhorse for commuting duties. He's used to using a flat bar, and likes the look of steel tubes (modern or vintage)

Good mudguards would be a bonus, considering the season.

He has a fairly modest budget of £100-200.

Anything in size 54-56cm or thereabouts

Cheers!

I have a 56cm Single speed, Vittorio Adorni columbus frame in blue, with nice pantographing on the forks as well. 52/18 geared with Campag hubs front and rear. Rear wheel is an Ambrosio (can't remember the front wheel)

I built it a few weeks ago and ran it in on a few commutes. It has drops fitted at the moment, although I haven't got round to fitting new tape yet (i have it but not fitted).

It doesn't have mudguards.
