Looking for any model of MTB which looks similar to a mid-2000s Zaskar preferably with simple colour scheme - front suspension only.

Any suggestions?

GT Avalanche is always the one that eBay chancers dress up as a Zaskar.

i have a polished 2006 avalanche, 6061, flat end cap, found a bit of filler in a dent under the paint. maybe it was a zaskar that got dented in the factory. i don't need it.

They seem to be in the region of 250+, not exactly nothing.

There's certainly some daft prices for complete bikes at the moment... saying that it's probably worth scoring a frame only and building it how you wish. There's been a few of those recently that have been under a ton to buy.

Otherwise, what would you be looking for? There's not much out there that looks exactly like a Zaskar, unless it's another GT (or Apollo!). Is it that you are liking the idea of a hardtail Aluminium frame? That opens up a few more possibilities...

Probably save time/help if there was an indication of budget?

I think £250 isn’t bad but if your budget is £100 then it’s obviously a big difference...

Yep, picked up a couple of mid 2000s zaskars for not much more than 100 before now. I suppose it depends what you want and how long you are prepared to spend looking

The looks of a GT certainly are nice. I just really liked one I saw that had a blue ano that wasn't the regular blue they use.

Other hardtails that don't look too modern might be fine...

Compared to a 91-97 Zaskar £250 isprobably half it’s price. And to be honest £250is the top end really of those age Zaskar if you look around.

If you don’t want to spend a lot then I suggest spending time on eBay and gumtree. But you’ll have to be patient and also be against other buyers.

How about a GT Pantera, the lower rent cousin of the Zaskar.

They go for pretty cheap like this one which looks to have sold unfortunately.

Also try your local recycling center and leave a card with one of the staff saying what you are looking for. Seen an alloy one and other decent mid range bikes stacked up in Finchley ( Summers Ln) last time i was there.
