Retro Newbie
Hi all, recently a very good friend and retro bike member passed away and I've been asked to value his collection, list below. Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks
1. Kona Explosif '98 - Good condition
2. Kona Explosif '99 - mint condition
3. Litespeed Obed Ti '99 with Pace carbon forks - Good condition
4. Marin Mount Vision '99/'00 with Fox RP 23 rear RL 80 front shocks - Good condition.

Need a spec list or some pics really. Very approximately £400, £400, £600, £400

Cheers CTK, as far as I remember standard kit apart from bits I mentioned.
Will see what I can do about photos. Thanks again much appreciated.

Re:

At this time of year eBay auction will reveal true value, plus it is a £1 listing for this coming weekend.

Lots of pictures and description of the components. Best price will be realised if you can arrange packaging/shipping.

Re:

I can't comment on the other bikes and in no way want to undermine CTK and his valuation - but my experience of buying/selling a few Mount Visions from this period is you will struggle to get much over £200 unless it is mint, most aren't as the frame oxidises under the laquer.

Hi, like above, to value we would need to see some pics of condition and components. Size also can affect the final value.

Re:

Sorry for the loss of your friend, and a fellow Retrobiker too.
If you need a hand sharing photos, drop me a message and I’m happy to re-size and post for you, given the circumstances.
I don’t think the amounts mentioned above are too far wrong, depending on condition. As has been said size does matter.
All the best.

Cheers guys for your words of wisdom and help.... I'll be talking to his widow over the weekend and see what she wants to do. Thanks again, any help and advise you can offer is very much appreciated at this difficult time.

Re:

Very sad news, I keep telling my wife to make sure she doesn't give mine away so good on you helping out.

You don't see many late Explosifs, I'd love a 99 and think £400 conservative if mint

Cheers Kuwahara, will keep that in mind. As a general question is eBay the best route to sell or sell on specialist sites such as here?
