NOS - I need counselling!

My pride and joy is my Ti RockLobster 2001 which I have owned from new. Still runs with the original Marzocchi Atom Race 80 shocks, which I service regularly. Even after 16 years use, the shocks are still super plush, and I still have spares to continue to service for a while yet (including some uppers in near new condition). However the lowers are visually looking their age, primarily because they were built using a magnesium alloy which corrodes quite readily.

In my spares box I have a NOS 2001 Marzocchi Atom Race in an unusual black pebble dash finish, kept for when my originals eventually died. My original pair just will not give up though and I cannot bring myself to make that cut on the steerer of the new pair and fit them!!!!

Am I turning into one of those people that puts plastic bags over their new car seats?

Re:

Not yet but you're taking the first steps
Put the new ones on, or look for a set with better lowers. 17yrs is long enough for corrosion cracking to be well on it's way in those forks.
