Modern fully rigid geo

Mrcamel

Retro Newbie
I am looking at building a new bike, Frame up, 650b, Retro parts as much as possible (starting with stronglight cranks, m737 cantis, Paul levers, either 1x10 or 2x9 thumbshifters)
It’s also going to be lugged, hence the question (partly...)
So, lugs restrict the geo options a bit, but I reckon I can do 69/70 head, 74 seat, clearance for 2.3” knobblies. Forks will use a Marzocchi bolt in crown (96/97) with custom legs (current plan anyway...!?!)

Is it heretical to have lugs, cantis and ahead?

Basically I’m looking to have a retro inspired bike with more modern geo which will be set up as an off-road tourer/Bike packer.

Any thoughts?

Re:

Sounds ideal. There are a few folks out there doing similar type bikes, Soma, Velo Orange, Rivendell and Surly have a new bike out too. Will you be making the frame yourself?

Good call on the Velo Orange, I’d forgotten about their frames, will check em out. Yes I’ll be doing the building. I’ll try and sort some pics to share

Not quite as heavy duty as a Hunqapillar but I guess that’s probably the closest thing
