After my city bike got stolen I bought a trek mtb and put some comfortable parts on it for commuting. I sort of liked the looks and ride of it and foud myself quite attached now.

I've seen some really nice bikes on here so tell me, how would you pimp my ride?

well, if it were ME, then first thing would be to ditch the stem and bars and tyres and put on something more mtb-ish (but thats probably the opposite of what you want to do)...otherwise job done, seems to have good running gear and brakes.

Although the frame looks like it has a fair bit of corrosion going on, that might need sorting out... strip, sand, repaint

Thanks for the feeback, but that is indeed the opposite of what i would like. Not trying to revert it back to original or make it less ridiculous, just want to make it look nicer. Any advice on colours? Would you repaint it the same as it was, or maybe just leave it unpainted ?

well again...if it were me, then i'd go horizon linear fade...but i'd paint everything that...

It is the best looking i agree, but seems expensive. Also, the welding is not so smooth so I don't know if it would look good. Anyone tried filling welds with Bondo, sanding down and then painting ?

Post subject:  Re:

I'd leave it as it is. If you are happy with the front end looking like it does, no point in painting the frame. You can't polish a turd.

On the plus side, I doubt anyone is going to try and steal it.

Well hello.

Are you looking for traditional pimpage or individual style with one eye on period correctness and one on causing offence to all those with an ounce of taste and one on the sanitarium?

First rule of proper thm pimpage is that no two adjacent parts can even approach the same colour.

I have examples that you may wish to peruse should your intestinal fortitude allow. Please turn over.

Thanks THM. As you can see, period correctness and taste have long gone out the window. I'm thinking maximum offensiveness with one eye on comfort and the other on my wallet.

I like your thoughts on colour coordination, please continue. I am ready.

Although I must say, those don't look very comfortable. I want it to ride like an antique chesterfield couch.

Had to Google Mary bars when he started banging on about a pair !

You too can achieve.

eBay and long distance long delivery time Asian accessories beckon. Vulgarity on a shoestring.

Individuality is the key. You must also learn to walk across rice paper without leaving a mark.

None cause discomfort from the position of rider, only for those failing to appreciate their beauty as they pass, never to be copied or equalled. The antithesis of aestheticism.

I was actually looking for those bars for this build, alas, I hadn't yet learned their proper nomenclature - "Mary bars". Which made the translation into Chinese even more difficult. It's becoming painfully obvious that I have much to learn from the king of pimp.

Good job matching the dog to your saddle. Which brings me to my next point. I'm not sure the gold chain adds enough vulgarity and bling. Might need to get some matching shoes to seal the deal.

Strip the frame and get it powder coated in flouro pink then add some spokey dokeys and I had a leopard print saddle somewhere you might be interested in

How would I go about powder coating? Is it possible to get it anodized?

Post subject:  Re: Pimp my ride

google powder coaters and call a couple for a quote to strip and powder. Prices vary massively but if you go for a stock colour (not custom) you can get it done pretty cheap.
