Team Marin

I don't know anything about Marin bikes. Can someone tell me about this frame? I think it might be a good deal for a project bike for me. Are these any good?

Yeah nice frame these were the top spec'd frames from the range. Condition looks good and decals are intact :)

If you check the serial number (under side of crank) you should be able to learn what year its from.

Re:

Looks early noughties. But yeah the team marin is the top spec. Same design (and nearly identical colour) to my muirwoods

Re:

I got the frame today. It isn't in as good of condition as I had hoped but it will do. It was a good price and came with some decent wheels. I'll post pics later. Someone will have to tell me how to determine the year.

Re:

It looks better in the picture. There is a small dent in the top tube and lots of chips and scratches. I removed the headset and derailleur and gave it a bath. I've sorted most of the parts. I have a manitou fork that I planned to use but the steerer tube is too short. I also need a rear wheel.

Re:

Here is the good side of the bike.

Here is the bad side.

And the dent.

And a scratch.

The rest looks good.

Re:

I've pulled these parts so far.

I installed the headset cups and bottom bracket. The rest will have to wait.

nice Marin

doesn't look to bad - the dent is a pitty, but Columbus Cyber is a very thin tube.

btw. could it happen, that this is an ex team-rider frame - see the "Columbus" decal on the toptube could be kind of sponsoring

Re:

I started putting this thing together. The fork is a place holder. There steerer tube is about a half inch too short. I haven't found a suitable replacement yet. I also got an email after putting the brakes on that these Avid Single Digit 7's have been recalled. I need to figure out how to get them replaced. This ,unfortunately, is a slow moving project. I was hoping to get some rides in on this bike before the snow starts falling but I think this might be my winter project now.
