9 speed chain 10speed rings....

Do 10 speed rings work with a 9 speed chain? I can't see why not, most manufacturers say not though.

Yes they do, i'm running several 9/10 hybrid set ups. Both road and MTB, they all work well.

Thanks. I could see no reason why not. But I notice now rings are stamped with the chain that "should" be used and even what size inner/outer "should" be used. Added to which the price of rings seems to be soaring ever nearer towards the price of a chainset! Simple things are being made over complicated. the way of all things today!

inner width is the same, it's outer width that changes
