Quick chainring question

It's been ages since I've needed to change a chainring and I've completely forgotten...

Are all chainrings with the same BCD compatible with all cranks?

Or more specifically can I chuck anything with the same BCD on my Raceface Atlas cranks?

Had a look at the Rumble in depth today, and the granny and big ring were fine, the middle is smashed to fook!! Missing teeth and a few more on the way out, really wasn't expecting it!

Thanks in advance!

Re:

Don't know about your race face cranks but I've had Shimano middle rings from one crank that didn't fit on another Shimano crank from the same era and with the same BCD.

So in answer to your question "Are all chainrings with the same BCD compatible with all cranks?" the answer is no.

Many middle rings have shorter teeth etc to aid shifting (especially Shimano). If the short teeth are exactly on opposite sides of the ring, then they are just ramps. They do look like dreadful wear though!
