this may have been asked before, but......

i'm old school, hardtails with narrow bars, and bar ends :oops:

i have always used bars of 580mm

stems were 130mm, then came down to 120mm, but currently i'm using a 110mm stem

i have just swapped my 580 bars for some 680 wide, and boy does it feel odd!!

should i persevere or start cutting!!

Is is for the Ibis ? 26"?

None of mine are wider than 580 , the Syncros ones on the endorphin are 530 I think. I'm happy with that. Cut off a cm at a time then try out for a while. I know it's a faff, keep taking grips off, cuttingn then puting back on though, but it's better than lopping too much off.
If it's for a 29er, then I think mine are a bit wider.
As for fatbikes, god alone knows !

ive noticed where i live alot of the chavvy gang with their jacked up sussy bikes need a wide load sign the width of the bars

can't help feel i'm gonna be like the 'dog with the big stick that can't get through the gate' the first time i encounter some closely set trees!! :LOL:

He needs his bar ends to fend off random red deer that get in his way. Maybe get something to protect the top tube from damage should the bars swing around.

I use bars between 630mm & 690mm, I like bars just a little bit wider than my shoulders I don't want to look like a flying squirrel :LOL:
