Deore FC-M510 (octalink) spindle length?

Hi!

I Bought a cheap Deore FC-M510 crankset to polish up and use on my single speed (Cannondale M500) but are quite puzzled concerning which spindle length the BB should have. The bike got a 68mm BB-shell (BSA) that much is clear and browsing different forums have narrowed it down to either a 113mm or 118mm spindle, is this correct? And if so, does it matter which one I choose?

I'm spoiled by the simplicity of my HT2 crankset, I never thought finding the right BB would be much trouble :)

Cheers!

AFAIK it needs 113mm.
It does matter.

Thanks! I was leaning towards 113 so I'll probably go with that. I know the spindle length matters if I would be running with gears but I thought maybe it's not that picky when running single speed.

Cheers!

In theory it should keep the middle ring (or single ring) in the centre of the cassette (or single cog.)
Hopefully.
