Did anyone see this at the Downhill in Cairns the other day:

A Pro rider hit a tree on his run and while he was down a spectator (probs pissed up) picked up the pro's bike and set off down the hill to "help get the bike to the bottom". Needless to say he had no helmet/armour on! Then this happened…..

The guy apparently got away with fractured vertebrae and dislocated shoulder but thankfully no permanent spinal injury. Thats according to Steve Peat, who's run was stopped half way down in order to scrape this guy off the track.
What a tumble!!!

Peat was lucky the guy did it cos his first run prior to being red flagged was crap. Watched this live but they didn't show this.

I heard that it was one of the marshalls charged with getting the bikes back to the bottom of the course following a crash, and not a spectator.

Wouldn't fancy riding a crashed bike down that course, especially without a helmet :|

That's what I heard too. There was a UCI directive last week stating that marshals are not to take injured / crashed riders bikes down the course but wait for the 'Latern Rouge' truck after the event.
