What to buy, modern bike advice.

I'd go voodoo. Has had brilliant reviews, and tend to hold their value better than Boardmans.

Both good bikes to be fair.

Assume its through CTW scheme if both from Halfords?

I'm frustrating as I explained to him my most recent purchase.

I landed myself a 1997 Specialized Stumpjumper M2 FS Comp for £50.

:)

He's still wanting a new one however...

ive got a voodoo bantu an thats been better than i expected, had it about 6mths, if i had the cash i would be looking at the 650b stuff or a 2012/13 bike thats got a few quid knocked off, (ps my bantus going for sale soon lol

Re:

As mentioned, the Voodoo's tend to get good reviews and the Boardmans are good value. How tall is he? If he's a big unit the 29er would work, if he's short then maybe not although he really needs to try a 650b and 29er to find out what he prefers as they're quite different.

Always worth looking at planetx/on one too as they knock out some killer deals and the bikes are well liked.
