Xt 8speed shifter (st-m 735)

Hi

I have an 8 speed xt shifter on my explosif

On the way to work this morning my rear shifter stopped shifting back up the cassette, the thumb lever will push and you can feel it catching (resistance is there) but the more you push it, slips and does not change.

Does anyone have any links or tips to give it a rebuild or fix?.....I'm supposed to be out on the bike early in the morning.

I'm not 100% it's an ST-M735 but this is a pic of an identical item!

The grease in Shimano STI can sometimes become hardened and stops the ratchet mechanism from operating correctly.

This can be fixed by using a degreaser, penetrating spray or drizzling the mechanism in 3in1 (I have found the latter better so far). I use 3in1 as it cleans and lubes at the same time. If you use degreaser or penetrating spray and get the mechanism working properly, dont forget to re-lube afterwards.

Check the cables too as they can fur up inside after lots of wet rides.
