Long story, got some Campag Xenon 9 speed shifters (New) and want to install them on a bike with Shimano 2300 8sp kit (i.e. swap out the shifters), will this work? Is it a botch, is it worth the effort?

I know the 10 speed ergos work with 8 speed shimano but don't know about 9 speed.
Google shimergo and you should find an answer.

The pitch on an 8 shimano cassette seems to suit campag 9 shifters.

9 speed campy shifters won't work with 8 speed shimano. Trust me i've tried it!

I never tried, I returned them. Ended up with a full Shimano Claris groupset set off eBay for 100.

been told campag an shimano is no go. we got som 9 speed campag shifters on a road bike to work with 7 speed shimano running gear but there old. think it was more luck they did than anything. we puzzled a pro with it lol. he said if it had 9 speed it prob wouldnt work also if it was newer it wouldnt
