Press fit bottom brackets...

Quick query really press fit bottom brackets, do they require a specific chainset? or would a regular hollow tech XTR one fit?

Hi Doug, I have press fit BB on my Scale 2011 and use regular M985 cranks.

BB30 press fit require different chainsets mate.

Depends on which pressfit you have, and which chainset you have. And if anyone makes the adaptors you might need!

Thanks for the replies, the issue has gone away as I have gone with a different frame with a standard threaded BB...was looking at a Salsa Marmasita, gone for a Santa Cruz Highball instead...thanks anyway!

Thats a BB86 model will accept any Shimano Hollowtech 2 chainset.

I've had 2 custom frames with BB86/92 press-fit BBs and found them to be trouble-free - the wider shell supports the bearings better and provides greater chainstay / tyre clearances. BB30 however is an abomination and pretty pointless on anything offroad IMO.
