They go to the expense of making a fancy display for their flashy new disc brakes then they use crap looking self tapping wood screws to hold the things on. Half arsed and just looks cack.

Gus, haters gonna hate. Then, as well as being a bit Lance, I do have a little bit of design nazzi in me too.

More low effort cack. Can't even be arsed to use a decent allen screw, nah a self tapper from B&Q, that will do.

And seems like it has the same problem as the shadow type Deore XT's have: The whole "thing" is hold by a tiny screw, which will break for the first stronger force, as my friends' did. As I looked the screw I realized that it has around 4mm diameter and it is drilled out. I don't know why, maybe for a further 0.01 gramm weight reduction?!

My guess it is the weakest link in a crash protecting frame and mech.
Defo not saved weight, the XX1 is as heavy as it looks solid, Not pretty.
