mtb protective pads opinions

Because you use flat pedals?
Flats on the klunker but I have noticed I'm pushing the envelope a lot more when and where I ride and it's only a matter of time until I crash properly, I am doing loads more downhill trails.

I'd be looking at knee protection initially then if it's not to protect you from pedal pins.

after a couple of small but painfull tumbles, I picked up some 661 knee pads for using in swinley. I've only 'used' them once but simply knowing that my knees are safe has given me some more confidence and enabled me to push a little harder to boot!

I have some D3O ones cos they are nice and flexible. Mine are RaceFace but 661 are the same IIRC.
