Hi all, just received an m442 chainset in the post to replace an old Saracen one. On the granny ring is a dark grey plastic ring clipped to it. Does it serve a purpose? It has SG-X CHAIN RING stamped on it.

I know the ones you mean.......I'm not really sure what they're supposed to do. They pop right off though, I always chuck 'em away :-)

Thanks, I'll take it off. I had a look at a friend Cube and that has one fitted. It could be a spacer.
