fitting an end to braided hose

I ve done this once before
an found it very fiddly when you fit the olive an the actual metal end that bolts to the caliper

any tips on how to cut the braiding back before the end is fitted?

Make sure the blade you use is very, very sharp! I used a set of plastic pipe cutters (im a heating engineer by trade), they went straight through without deforming the shape of the pipe. That's the main thing, don't deform the pipe!

I ve already cut the actual hose I used shimano cable cutters

I mean when you fit the silver end onto the hose that bolts on to the caliper I m sure I had to remove some of the braiding last time to expose the inner hose?

Don't remember having to do that to mine

Me neither. If the hose is plastic coated over the braid you have to remove that - but not the braid itself. On Hope braided hoses anyhoo. Gently widening the olive with a screwdriver or similar sometimes makes it easier.
