building my first gravity rig and want either a 40 or 42 tooth ring up front. can I just put an outer ring in the middle, with the bash on the outside ring?
 
Outer ring ion other side if spider may give yiu issues with the chainring bolts i think there is a recess in thrchainring for the bolt.
 
Used to run a 46 in the middle position, RaceFace ring and some shorter SS chainring bolts. Worked a charm.
