I wanted to bleed my XC4's and when I took the front pads out found they were soggy and gungy looking. (I dont know anything about disc brakes, but I assume that this is bad.)

So i figure i need to replace the pads as well. What pads should I buy?

(I know they need to fit the XC4s but am completely confused by the variety of pad types and manufacturers available.)
All and any input gratefully received.
 
I've got a set of genuine hope xc4 pads. PM me your address and I'll bung them in the post
 
I'm no expert, shit im no amateur, but woudlnt soggy pads suggest the piston seals may need looking at???
 
Aye, soggy pads means something has gotten onto them to make them go like that, possibly brake fluid? did you spill some on the caliper? or perhaps you have a leak, hence the need to bleed?
Soggy pants are a different matter altogether...

Have a look at Superstar Components pads, I'm using them in my Hope M4/Mini's
 
I haven't spilt any brake fluid yet, though give me time.

I bought the bike recently and the front brake is almost non-existent so was going to start with a bleed and then saw the condition of the pads.

It may well be that the seals are stuffed. Thanks for the pointer.
 
Hope may still have seals available or check chainreactioncycles. Anyway pads sent
