I was wondering why many bike manufacturers mount on their bikes a rear derraileur from one or even two classes up in quality. For example, i see a lot of bikes with crank, casette, shifters, front mech Deore, and rear mech Slx or even Xt. Is it a marketing thing or it just fits better the setup? Thanks

Marketing. An XT chain or bottom bracket aren't obvious, but an XT mech has it own distinctive shape, finish and XT written all over it, so its cheapest of making the punter think they're getting more.

...and has an exponentially higher improvement factor to the overall ride/feel/quality etc of the bike.

Shifting improvements are a hell of a lot more noticeable than hubs, or as Unkle bloody Chop Chop  says, a bb or chain
