Don't use them it's a simple as that. If you are hitting the trails there is always a higher possibility of damaging tyre further and if and when it happens you run the danger of damaging your bike. It's not worth glueing either , I had a friend who used rubberised type solution on a expensive tyre he wanted saving and within 2 miles it blew out!
