Hi folks,
I want to set up a 1x 10 29er using a 2012 SRAM X7 short cage rear mech, and X9 trigger shifter from the same year. What's the maximum rear cog that this particular short cage rear mech will handle in 1 1x 10 setup? Am I stuck with something like a 12-28 road cassette, or can I go out to larger cog sizes?

Cheers,
Gareth.

I think you'll be able to larger than that.

I use a medium cage X9 mech with an 11-36 mech no worries.

Just looked at the Sram website and it says the mech will work with up to a 36 tooth cassette. They define the short cage as for DH use but I think that means single ring be ause the medium cage is if a 2 x 10 set up.
