The Mavic XM117's are mega cheap at the moment (at chainreaction cycles), I bought some last year and have been running them on my MTB, I'm happy with them so far.
Edit: actually the rim version aren't much cheaper, the disc ones are half price though. They must have sold out of the older rim version

Mavic XM317's are not even £30 and is a good rim. Not many rim brake specific rims left. There is also the Velocity Aeroheat aslo come with a brake track and is £40. Velocity rims are pretty good but I never never built with this one. I normally build with the A23 road rim and that is excellent. I believe there entire range to be of good quality.
