Last night I overhauled the rear hub on my bike for general maintenance. It's a Shimano M475 Disc. When I cleaned everything nicely I noticed a crack on the racer (non-dirve side)... :( It is noticeable under finger. The crack is on the outside part of the hub (the part that also works as a seal, or supposed to do so) - if you look on this picture it's the first part on the left, just after the cone...

What could I do? I put a lot of fresh grease in and assembled it back together. It spins nicely, no nasty sensations when turning the axle with fingers. On the morning commute it behaved perfectly normal, smooth and silent. How long will it last now? Is there a possibility of replacing just that metal cap? :?

Odd that it has cracked, it doesn't take any load the weight of the bearing is take on the cup. Hopefully it'll rub on a while longer....

The races in the hub arent replacable. I'd just keep on riding it until it dies, which by the sounds of it will be a long time!!!
