Hey guys just after tips or info on how about prepping and respraying forks ?

I have 2 pairs of 2001 cheery red boxxers and am going to use both pairs to make 1 good pair, they are a bit battered but after seeing a thread in the readers bikes section on a lobo restoration and how good his forks have turned out I want to do the same.

I understand there magnesium so what the best way chemical strip or is soda blasting ok ? Id not sand blast as ives heard its to rough and abrasive.

Forks

Hi there, i'm currently doing my boxxers too. Having read Magsy's thread, i used nitromors to strip back to bare metal, needs a few coats but it works well.

I spoke to TF tuned about the options and they highlighted the issues that residue from any blasting substrates can have on the forks in use. Obviously sand for example in your oil would not do the internals much good, and its impossible to get rid of all of it.

They also mentioned dipping and oven baking after powder coating would cause issues with the internal bushes... New ones are over £100 each!
