Cheapest way to fix pitted stachions

I've a set of lightweight Noleen forks that I'd like to refurbish. I'm guessing that getting them replated won't be cheap so wondered if there's any other options?

replated - so are they steel? generally motorcylce fork stanchion are rechromed then ground down to size, as you can expect not exactly cheap.

bodges such as using filler will work for a little time but are not long term. to replate as you say, i would guess needs to have the stanchions removed from the crown, a tricky process in itself if the are not bolt on and may end up runing the crown.... in which case you might as well source new parts.

if they are aluminium alloy, you could try using lumiweld - an aluminium solder but it would need a huge amount of heat plus there is no guarantee the solder will stick.... and then you would need to anodize or coat the surface so again probalby a no goer.
