Hi all

I have a Specialized FSR XC in the shed with a set of Avid 2.0 V-Brakes in silver. A set of Avid Single Digit 3 V-Brakes dropped into my lap recently and I was was wondering, which is the better V-Brake:

1. Avid 2.0

2. Avid Single Digit 3

Thanks in advance.

As far as I can remember ther isn't a huge difference between 2.0 and sd 3 apart from the later is newer so might be less worn. But I'm not an avid expert! If you want an upgrade look out for some with the paralelogram thingys like the diacomp or xtr. But u could try first a booster brace if you got alight weight frame. I put tektro boosters on my dynatech for about £12 f÷r

I've found any Avid brakes I have used to be excellent.

As James mentioned above boosters do work well, I had a couple lying around so I've fitted them to my Lavadome and the brakes are amazing now.

Personally I think the parallelogram wotsits are gimmicky and cause screeching when worn. Avid 25s are lighter than XTR, simpler and in my experience work better.

Avid stuff is slightly non-flashy but is solid kit that works well in all parts of the range.
