as i keep splitting gear cable outers
i want to fit a new one
i remember that you can buy some thats made of small metal tubes that you link together to get the correct lentgh
trouble is i cant remeber what its called i thought it was made by jagwire but a quick e bay search doesnt find it

does anyone know the one i mean

Yep nokon as above. I think clarks make a version too and alligator have 'i-link' but i much prefer the nokon stuff over alligator. But its more expensive.
Or just some brake cable outer if you are splitting it lengthways.

aligator i-link and mini-ilink - costs more, available in many colours, can run a smaller radius, is lighter but shifts just as well.

.... but why are you having this problem - are you running them i n too tight a curve?

i think it because its a dh frame (karpiel avalanche)
an it has a lot of travel

i am running a full lentgh from front to rear

first time it split the outer on the chain stay just below the ferule /end cap

now its split as it enters the shifter (totally different outer to last time)
