Hey there,

Can anyone tell me if there's much between these two and whether I'd have any issues running the SRAM cassette on a 9 speed XT equipped bike.

Preferences?

You can use sram or shimano cassettes with no problems. My preference is for shimano when it comes to cassettes, they seem to shift better and generally offer better value. XT without doubt for me out of those two.

I'd agree with the above. Shimano cassettes are better; the shifting and wear is superior to Sram. Sram make better chains though.

Although I prefer Sram mechs and shifters, I always used Shimano cassettes.

On those bikes that I have running pg990, I have no shifting issues, can't say they are better or worse than shimano

From the weight weenie perspective, it goes: pg990 - XT - XTR

Can't remember prices but XT is close to pg990

pg990 comes in nice colours.
