Semi slick tyre recommendations

I'm thinking about buying two pairs of semi slick tyres for my girlfriends and my XC bikes.

We've got a big charity bike ride coming up that is a mix of road and track paths and want to reduce some rolling resistance to make life a little easier and faster.

We tend to ride this sort of stuff anyway so don't want a fully slick commuting tyre, something for both.

Any recommendations in 26"? Anything to avoid? Or alternatives!

There are a couple of threads going about these at the moment.
Id say something like a conti double fighter though, they seem to rate well.

just ordered some conti traffic 2 urban reflex in 2.1, will let you know how they do, i know not truly a semi slick but i do some light trails too, weight is high but heard good reviews...

I've got the Michelin country rocks on my ss stumpy and they are really good for the money. Roll and corner nicely on the road and have quite surprising tenacity off road. Can't go wrong for a tenner IMHO.

I'm very fond of the Specialized Crossroads when it comes to all-round tyres. They roll like a slick and have plenty of profile for sand and dirt.
In fact the only reason I'm not using them right now is because I prefer the look of full slicks.

Available in 26x1.95", in blackwall and something called "Armadillo", which is a sort of maroon sidewall.

Not quite as slick but for commuting I use DMR moto RTs in 2.2 variety.

Cranked up to 50psi they're a nice fast rolling tyre!

Shwalbe Hurricane, I find they roll as well as slicks on road and are fine off road in the dry.
