Hi All,

I want to upgrade the brakes on my folding bike. This will seem like a silly question so I apologise.

I assume the brakes on a folding bike will fit on a normal road bike and vice versa, ie, can I choose pretty much whatever I want, does it also depend on what rims I have or is that irrelevant too?

Thanks in advance from a relative newbie

The brakes on my bike are V-brakes if that will help provoke a response.

without seeing your bike, its impossible to say what will fit or not, but if you say they are V's, then any V will do.... however

maybe just upgrade the pads before replacing the entire brake, as crap pads on any brake, top end or budget, will make for some shite brakes

Ok thanks and also to poweredbypies.

It makes sense, like having good tyres on a car I guess. I will look into it, I am learning as I go along. I wont want to have to spend loads if I dont need to
