Bloody weather! - Who's braving the rain this weekend?!

Not sure about the rest of the country, but here in the North West the weather is beyond shocking. There has been relentless rain most of this week, on top of the mass amount which came last week.

So.......who's going out this weekend getting severely muddy and wet?!

I went out on a ride last weekend and had an absolute blast! Possibly the most fun ride i've had in the last 3 years. Sliding the back end out everywhere, having to really rely on the tyres leaning into the bends, i even fell off at one point and just got up and on my merry way.

Let us rejoice this shitty summer with your fond wet ride stories.

well at least if the mud is wet, it cushions your falls, rather than giving your skin that 'cheese grater' effect :p

i do enjoy a muddy ride, but when you get this far south, you often get the wind with the rain and that just makes it a whole lot less enjoyable!

weather here is temperamental - sunny like summer, then turns windy and rainy in the switch of a rapid-fire shifter ;)

i ride no matter what, but only if i need to :p

done a local 15 mile ride in rain the other day and probaly do it again today...yep, still raining here too :?

atleast its warm rain, not like in the winter, you can get a good workout in it.

It's my day off so I had a bit of a long lie in bed and got up around eleven. Opened the curtains, result, it's dry. Grey but dry. As I was walking away from the window I heard a thunderclap. It's now monsoon type rain :x

Wellies would fill up its coming down so hard. It's also dark like around nine at night.

It might be the end of the world.

I was out in walking boots and full waterproofs last week. Was a little restrictive but i cant imagine how bad it would have been if i went in the usual old trainers / hoody attire!

I've just realised that my waterproof cycling jacket hood isn't big enough to go over your head if you have a helmet on.

What's that about then?

actually, this has reminded me of a particular problem, when wearing waterproofs on a bike - does anyone go for trousers?
i've done this a couple of times recently and found the trousers ride up and feed all the water down into the top of my waterproof trainers.....
perhaps boots would be better, but wearing boots on a bike seems a little over-the-top.....

i've worn shorts in heavy rain, but found the same issue - the water drips down my legs and into my socks and the waterproof shoes then turn into a couple of small ponds......

anyone hearing me on this?! :?

In heavy rain I wear ex-army gore tex boot liners (£5) in my summer spd shoes.

And ex-army goretex trousers (£12 a pop) with some elastic holding the trousers over the boot liners round my ankles. Shorts underneath.

Of course my shoes are wet through, but my feet and legs stay warm and dry.

This helps me to stay comfortable. Usually have to adjust the elastic on my ankles a few times.
