Right, so I've swapped my (leaking) Avid Juicy 5 calipers and levers for some Avid Juicy 7 calipers and levers - still using same rotors that came with the 5s (I assume these are interchangeable?).

Problem is I have too much clearance between disc and pads, so lever goes right to handlebars before the pads contact the disc.

Is there a way to adjust the clearance between pads and disc, or do I need some sort of shim?

sounds like there might be air in the system so will need bleeding and then topping up with fluid unless they have a bite point adjuster that can remove the slop

Worn pads ? ie not enough surface material near the disc. Or are they new brakes and pads.
