I'm trying to fit a hollow tech 2 and xtr m960 cranks to my surly (68mm shell). The non drive side seems to push on too far so it binds on the bb cup, the bottom bracket doesn't have a cover over the bearings at all? If someone someone with a hope bb could have a look to see if there is a bearing cover that would be great!

Yes my hope bb has a plastic 'shield' which sits in a groove on the cup.
Its has dots on the outside of it.

How many spacers have you got on there?

Ive tried 2 drive 1 non drive and 1 each side. but it always Binds must be missing the cap I'll see if an old shimano one fits. Cheers man

The shimano ones are 'tophats' which sit inside the bearing aswell as cover it.

The hope bearings have a 24mm I.D so dont need this and thus just have the cover.

Only way round this is to fit a square taper unit, they're the only BB's that work. Fact.

Now send me your XTR stuff and Hope BB and I'll pop you a UN52 and some nice M730 cranks.
