will double crown forks fit any frame ?

hi i've got a 2006 stumpjumper, and after lots of confusion about what i want/need my bike for , i like doing jumps and stunts round round the town , as well as XC offroad , so am wondering if dual crown forks will fit my bike , to start converting into a freeride.

any advice appreciated .

Dual crowns will fit if the steerer's long enough. I'd advise against it as the stress on the head-tube could cause it to snap. Long-travel single crowns would be your best bet, a lot lighter too.
You'd need a heavily gusseted frame to run a dual crown such as a Norco (Bigfoot, Wolverine, etc) or one of the Kona Clump frames (Scab, Hoss, etc). These aren't designed for it either though.
These can usually take a longer fork and would be stronger than the Spesh.
Go for s/c if you can.

Yes they will provided steerer tube is right length.

However the geometry of the frame and strengthening will determine whether they are suitable.

For your frame, i can only think of older style ones with lesser travel than today that would be suitable but they wouldnt be up to what you want by the looks of things (around 100mm travel for your frame).

Id suggest a new frame but thats not to say you cant upgrad yours, its just not ideal.

ok cheers, i'm a bit confused about what i want my bike for , i think maybe i need differant bikes for differant occasions, i do like the look of dual crown though , but i'm not prepared to gimp my ride for cosmetics, only if it's viable

As you say more than one bike may be an option.

I have 3 that i use (do it all, commuter, dh).

Do you mean hops and jumps and stuff from staitionary? (trials)

or on the trail?

Singletrack?

Or all mountain/go everywhere with a few jumps and stuff thrown in for good measure?

What size jumps?

hmm, dunno really... i tend to use all manor of curbs and such and enjoy bouncing round the town , as apose to just riding striaght to my destination , i like doing 180 degree endo's all the fancy rubbish :)

i want to achieve a bike which is suitable for all that rubbish, and at the same time, when i go XC i want maximum distance with minmum amount of effort

Sounds like the Hardcore Hardtail approx would be the best option.
Dual & bash up front, possibly a 1 x 9 set-up.
130mm (up to 160mm) single crown forks.

I still wouldn't put triples on it.

Here's a pic of mine to give you some sort of idea what I'm on about:
