got me a coil rear shock - Rock Shox deluxe with rebound adjust (although it doesnt do much) . it squeals a bit on the rebound stroke.....almost sounds like when you make a balloon squeak (air pressure through a small gap)
is there something wrong with this???!!

Could be some friction on the shaft as its dragging against it. Or something with the rebound circuit itself. It'll be an old shock (?) and would no doubt benefit from an oil and seal change inside and a nitrogen (if applicable) recharge. Would transform it.

I had an LTS a while back that I serviced my self.

Seal was fine but had literally run out of oil!

IIRC I removed the shock from the frame.
Removed the spring from the shock - open rebound all of the way.
Then with a 10mm (?) spanner removed the shaft.
Thimble of a suitable weight oil.
Pop back together.
All tickity boo.

Worked fine for me.

Hope this helps!

wow, didn't realise it was so (apparently) simple! mine has been making a few unsavoury noises lately but they sound like sucking, rather than squeaking.

TF Tuned have removed the Deluxe from their RockShox service sheet, I don't know if you could sweet talk them into it?

I did find another comapny that say they will, but I haven't enquired to confirm. It's on my PC at home, i'll post up the details later if you like

There were also a few upgrade options, such as a Risse Genesis iirc, and someone was doing a Fox/BETD rocker upgrade on ebay for a while. I went looking for it the oher day but couldn't find it..hideously expensive.
