I'm building up a 1999 Kona Muni Mula for my wife and am wondering what length they should be on a bike of that year?

The forks I am planning to use (because I have some on a bike I'm stripping) are Fox F120, will these be suitable?
I think she'd rather have relaxed steering than something really sharp anyway.

Thanks.

My Caldera was/is 65mm

I think you would be fine up to 100mm but no more.

Certainly I have run 100mm travel on mine with no major steering issues.

The original fork was a Bomber Z4. I expect a ~440 axle crown. Here are Fox dimensions:

F80: 450.9mm
F90: 460.9mm
F100: 470.9mm
F120: 490.9mm

I'd try adding a couple of spacers in the F120 fork to bring the travel down to 80mm. It is very easy to do.

I don't think this would be as bad as you might think. A set up for a female rider might be quite soft, which would reduce the sagged length, and if she wanted a short stem, as many do, that would liven the steering up. An F120 with a standard stem would be a no no, but with a 70mm stem and swept bars it would be quite different.
