many a true word is said in jest.

This is exactly what was happening on a pair of Ricthey bar ends fitted to my Saracent Kilicomp. There is a tiny hole in the bar end, purpose being allow gases to escape when welding but they would make a whistling noise when ridden. Took me a while to find the source of the noise.
