Grease in headtube when fitting a headset?

I'm going to be fitting a headset in both of my frames
which happen to be 4130 cromo steel.

I have been told if you don't put a smear of grease before fitting the headset can fuse to the steel.

My question is weather it be steel or aluminium should you put a tiny smear
of grease in there or could this eventually damage the frame?

Thanks everyone

Yes i do put a smear in as they can sometimes get pretty stiff in there!

Tiny lil bit though.

I use loads of copper slip, the excess will get squeezed out anyway.
