Homemade Remote Lockout-IS IT POSSIBLE

Hi everyone

im running a set f 2006 Rock Shox Tora 318 U-Turns with motion control, rebound adjustment and damping, and lockout

I know you can buy the pop lock system for remote lockout, but was wondering if you could create one out of a old thumbie using the original lock out switch already on the forks

any suggestions would be most grateful

Thank you

I reckon if you cut a 'cable' slot into the fork adjuster and find a way of then securing the cable in there, that would work. Very simple.

you would need to make something with enough tension to lock and unlock

or 2 thumbies one to lock other for unlock

But surely if he uses the method i suggested, the adjuster locks it self anyway?
Is it motion control?

Edit: Yes it is

Would one rapidfire have enough pull? Gripshifts for gears and one rapidfire for lock out would be quick a tidy solution?

Ooooh i see where i am wrong!

Maybe there is a way to put a spring mechanism under the moco cap?

i dont think it would work, the spring in the mech does the work id say anyway
plus the lever on forks needs a good bit of movement to lock unlock

i didn't say it needed force just more movement a gear change uses hardly any movement

a shifter and cable on its own at best would give you the option to lock or unlock since there is no spring to push it back to start position

so what you need to work out is how to get it to push back

A thumbie on friction should have enough pull.

Then to get it to return, maybe you could use a coiled spring from a modern shifter and modify that so it sits under the cap/adjuster? Or even one from a canti brake.
