Fox F32 travel increase

I have some Fox F32 forks from '09 that are currently set at 80mm travel. I assume the travel is restricted from 100mm by a travel reduction spacer. Would it be possible to remove the spacer to achieve 100mm travel, or might the damper, or other components, be different between 80 and 100 mm travel models? I don't know whether these were originally 80 or 100. The manual gives the weight of each as being the same, it would make sense for them to be the same, but it also gives dire warnings about death and mutilation should the spacer be removed.

Before I start , any hints?

From past experience I'm sure the newer F80's are stuck at 80mm of travel due to stanchion length. F90's can be increased to 100mm. F100's can be reduced to 80mm.

If you look up the Fox service guide on Fox's site it says about the travel change, but I recon you're stuck on the F80's.
