Advice please: spoke head/spoke direction on the disc side

I read about the evils of drinking so I gave up reading... or I read the instructions and wished I hadn't.

For the first time ever I read the spoke lacing instructions that came with an XT disc hub - just after I had built up the wheel.

Shimano instructions suggest that spokes with the head inside the hub flange should be facing forwards. I asked this question on another forum and nobody seemed to know whether it really mattered. Does anyone know if it makes a big difference?

Thanks

Surely it wouldnt really matter?

Its going to be putting the same force on it at the shoulder/flange surely?

Yes, I think you're right.
I'm only bothered because I'll be doing a long tour on these wheels.
Thanks for the replies.

When I was in Shimano QC, my employer also imported Ideal bikes from Greece. Ideal's owner was the Shimano distributor for Greece, Turkey and some other territories.

Even their wheels were built "wrong".

Thank you. I am reassured.
Please accept my apologies for unleashing one of the most boring threads ever.
