I bought http://www.magicshineuk.co.uk/products/ ... MJ-808LSET a few weeks ago, helmet mount but can be bar mounted, I found that ridign cliff paths etc at night I wanted the lights to be where I'm looking rather than where the bars are pointed..

Can't rate them enough, absolutely brilliant! I go out with a fair few others who have all kinds of lights ranging right up to a few hundred and tbh I can't see hte point in the extra cot over these..

You can get exactly the same lights as these (although with a US plug!) from deal extreme for £35 a pop delivered! Cracking value

I paid more than twice that for mine a year ago

Only slightly related as I've never ridden a bike in the dark or with lights but I have nearly £2000's worth of high power LED torches and batteries etc

Buy the Dealextreme stuff, anything with SSC P7 or Cree XM-L will be like a small car headlight and I have a lot of their $30-40 torches in service, some in Vietnam of all places and they are pretty reliable. The only thing you need to look for is something that has good heatsinking because they get hot hot.

The high end stuff I have (£200-300 torches) are usually no brighter or reliable, just nicer in finish.

DX is pretty reliable too aslong as you don't try to return anything.

Same as that UK store, so buy it from DX. It looks good to me, you could run two of them..

There are two versions of that light for sale on DX. The basics are SSC P7 leds are some of the brighest but hot and high(er) on energy consumption. Usually has a very wide floody beam.

XM-L is a newer LED pretty much as bright but a lot cooler and lower on consumption. Naturally a slightly narrower beam but usually a nice hot spot and enough flood.

Based on calculations and my experience with four good quality 18650 batteries they should produce the quoted 3-4 hours, maybe a little more. My torches with single batteries last 40-60 mins.
